EnergyTalk Radio in Secondary Schools
Posted by Vince Beazel at 07 Jun 2008 11:46:05:423 and Last Edited on 07 Jun 2008

As we help with development in other countries, we need to assess the needs and resources in that region.  With the discovery of BlogTalkRadio.com, every community has an overflowing resource of young people, who are waiting to be coached.  Those who do not have internet links, can use multimedia CD-Rom, which is how we started in the early 1990's, before any of my contacts had a knowledge of the internet.

We work with coaches and youth leaders to promote energy education at all levels.  For those who have access to the internet, we can make videos.  For those who listen to radio, we can now make radio stations at the secondary schools.  The young people want to become involved in their future.  We will provide technical support from students in our colleges and universities who want to Change the World; to become a sustainable, global community.  Namaste. vinbeazel

Iliopark has rainwater harvesting technology
Posted by Christophe Parot at 13 May 2008 08:17:53:997 and Last Edited on 14 May 2008

Collect rainwater and reuse

In many countries, water scarsity is a problem. To collect the water rain is an old and effective solution. The collected quantity will depend of the annual water shed. Iliopark can also resist to exeptional snow shed, up to 80 cm. Collected water can be used to water gardens but also to clean vehicules.

The design of the shelter has been made by Caligo, from Annecy, who draw elegant lines. The structure of the shelter is steel made.

Christophe Parot and Jean Claude Bavoillot are prospecting several projects, for example eco-villages, but companies are collectivities are also interested.

A licence is available worldwide. http://franchise.iliopark.com

The basic unit cost of an iliopark is 28 000 euros, for two car park, the cost to connect the shelter to the grid is not included. This is depending on the distance. For a 1 000 units installation, the cost is deacreasing to  18 000 euros.

Iliopark protects the cars against the sun and pro

To produce photovoltaïque electricity, while shading the cars against the sun and collecting the rain water : these are the services provided by iliopark, a shelter designed by the french company Impact Energie, located in  Annecy.

Many had the idea, but the two Impact-énergie founders did it. Christophe Parot, 48, agronomist  and MBA, quited research to act in the field of renewable energy.  Jean-Claude Bavoillot, ENSAM engineer, spécialised in the car industry, industrial production and management.

Today, the two associated are marketing  Iliopark, a park shelter to protect the cars against the sunlight. Iliopark is also transforming solar energy into photovoltaic electricity and collect the  rain water.

The conception integrated the different functions in an modular, esthetic product, easy to install.

The basic unit is made for two vehicules. The area covered with photovoltaic is 24 square meter. The pannels are made in Spain. The power is 3 KW peak. The pannels are oriented to the sun to 12°, to furfill many potentiel locations. Park are easier to equip than buildings, where the roof is often not in the right direction, or used by air conditioning equipment. The whole iliopark area is available for production.

The connection with the grid will depend of the distance of the park from your electric transformer. Electricity can be used to charge electric vehicule batteries, like scooters or bicycles.

Annual production in the Rhône Alpes area is reaching 3 250 KWh for each unit. In France the feed in tariff is 0,57 euro / KW/h. This is producing a 1 800 euro annual income for the happy owner, for each installed unit. The return over investment is about 15 years. Iliopark is a technical and financial product.

Planting and maintaining trees...

Dear all,

In addition to all the green initiatives,

can we plant 2 trees per house and maintain them, which will increase our green cover significantly?

Think about it!

Sustainable Development
Posted by Srinivas Vedula at 25 Apr 2008 14:23:13:113 and Last Edited on 29 Apr 2008

The global debate on Sustainable development is truly on.There is great confusion about what is sustainable development. Each one defines sustainable development in their own way to suit their convenience. There is lot of myth and untruth surrounding these overhyped marketing of the so called sustainable development initiatives.

For a common man how do we define sustainable development? Majority of human population is under nourished and poor. How do you include them in sustainable development?  Wikipedia defines it as a development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

I had posed a question in LinkedIn Q&A forum, definition of Sustainable Business - two interesting definitions emerged. One definition given by Richard Kubin that more or less applies sustainable development definition to businesses. He defined it "as a business that is economically viable, socially equitable and environmentally benign" The other definition was more holistic and was given by James Stuart. He defined it as "the process by which long term - and widespread - benefits are gained. Widespread, meaning further than any particular business or the employees of that business, encompassing the suppliers, the producers, the consumers. This means shared benefit and a joint future based on trust, mutual respect and development". You can find the article of James Stuart here: /uploads/sustainable Business.pdf

If business is the vehicle of wealth creation globally, is it not apt to expect full partcipation of the businesses in sustainable development? Is it happening globally?

Well only time will tell.
